The Ivy Temple Row have partnered with Birmingham Royal Ballet with their festive production of The Nutcracker.

Currently in its 29th year, it’s simply not Christmas in Birmingham without Birmingham Royal Ballet’s beautifully charming production of The Nutcracker. It’s the classic story of young Clara who is swept into the magical winter wonderland, told in the most captivating way.

The Ivy Temple Row have launched an exclusive brunch and performance package for the whole family. With the entrance design inspired by The Nutcracker, this brunch offers scrumptious food followed by a matinee performance of The Nutcracker.

Ahead of the launch, I visited The Ivy Temple Row to try their new Nutcracker cocktail alongside a delicious dinner.

The Sugar Plum Fairy cocktail is a sweet creation served in a gorgeous teacup decorated by candy floss. It perfectly depicts both the traditional and majestic look of the show with the infusion of magic.

I’d never visited The Ivy before and it was a truly fantastic experience. The service is impeccable, the food exquisite but it’s the setting that makes it extra special. It’s beautifully cosy yet feels grand at the same time. Perfect for a special occasion, this Christmas it feels incredibly festive.

The food is both delectable yet has a warming feel of home comforts. We enjoyed the Scallops that were inventively served with cauliflower purée, caper butter, tamarind glaze, apple batons and a golden crumb.

The main courses are superbly sized and bursting with flavour. We had the roasted lamp rump that was excellently cooked and served with creamed potato and a red wine sauce. Alongside the Iberico pork, a tender cutlet with creamed potato and a creamy calvados sauce.

Just when you think you can’t eat anymore, the desserts were too tempting to resist. The classic cremé brûlée is simple yet divine and the chocolate bombe is like magic before your eyes. With a vanilla ice cream and honeycomb centre, the hot caramel sauce melted away its hard outer shell to reveal a sweet sensation.

Perfectly places on Colmore Row, The Ivy Temple Row offers the tremendous food, atmosphere and service for a festive celebration this Christmas. Alongside The Nutcracker’s Sugar Plum Fairy Cocktail, it’s an evening guaranteed to be filled with enchantment.
