INSIDE | Wolverhampton’s The Bilash’s pre-theatre Dining

Located just around the corner from Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre, why not spice up your night at the theatre with The Bilash’s new pre-theatre dining. With scrumptious Michelin rated food, it’s a high-class Indian meal that serves up succulent dishes.

The family owned restaurant has been around for 35 years and its detailed menu proves that they have got both their substance and style sorted. The pre-theatre meal priced at £29.95 per person serves up a starter and main along with poppadum’s and rice. The menu is diverse offering plenty of meat choices along with a selection of vegetarian meals. Oozing with The Bilash’s signature spice, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

I started with the spicy lamb chops that packed a real punch with its flavours. Sized to perfection, it was the perfect starter to give you a real taste but not take too much away from the actual meal. I did think about whether or not an Indian meal is something I’d eat just before the theatre, but the portions were brilliant.

For my main I enjoyed the Palek Chicken – which was a spicy chicken cooked in fresh spinach. Marinated with a delectable sauce, it certainly was a meal to remember.  Perfectly paired with arromatic rice and melt-in-your-mouth naan bread, I polished off every last mouthful.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in The Bilash – the suave contemporary setting is light and airy. Adding to the ambience was the theatre songs playing in the background whilst eating your dinner. They’d put on The Bodyguard soundtrack ahead of our trip to see the musical which really got you in the mood – the perfect addition to a stagey night out. 

The key thing when having a pre-theatre meal is timing and The Bilash know what they’re doing when it comes to efficient service. We had enjoyed our poppadoms, starters and desserts all in good time before we took a leisurely walk down to the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre to The Bodyguard. 

Whilst it’s not the prices you might not expect at your local Indian – it’s obvious as to why when you taste the divine dishes they have on offer. The Bilash is the perfect treat to top off your theatre experience in Wolverhampton.
