Last Sunday, the Birmingham bloggers all gathered at The Stable, a fairly new restaurant in central Birmingham that focuses on it’s speciality of pizza and cider. Located right outside Birmingham New Street station, and just minutes away from the New Alexandra Theatre and the Birmingham Hippodrome, The Stable is the perfect restaurant with a delectable selection of food and drink.
The interior is designed with an open plan kitchen, so you can see and smell the pizzas as they’re being made. The Stable has a rustic style decor with a modern twist, which creates a relaxing atmosphere, ideal for casual dining and drinks. With live music and scrumptious cider, it has the perfect vibes to relax and enjoy local food and drink with friends.
The Stable emphasise the importance of using independent, local, small scale producers. There are a multitude of local homemade ciders on offer from Hogan’s Cider. Allen Hogan talked to us about the lengthy process to create his cider and the abundance of flavours available. With 60 types to choose from and 20 on tap, Hogan’s Cider have have an exemplary selection.
We tried a mixture of ciders, carbonated and uncarbonated and even his homemade brandy, which are all bursting with flavour and taste very genuine, unlike the popular brands which tend to have an overly processed taste.
You’d struggle to get through all the excellent flavours on offer, so fortunately there is a tasting board available. You can try five different ciders for only £7.50, a fantastic and cost effective way to tingle your tastebuds on the finest quality of local cider.
All created on a sourdough base, for a thinner and crispier taste, each pizza is made with fresh ingredients. With a huge array of creative toppings to create innovatively designed pizzas, with vegan cheese and gluten free pizza available too. After viewing the extensive menu, we were invited into the kitchen to meet the head chef and create our own pizzas.
After smothering my pizza with caramelised onions, smoked bacon, slow roasted pulled beef, red pepper and a squirt of sour cream. I had successfully created the most popular pizza on the menu, The Blazing Saddle.
The pizza tastes superb, the thinner sourdough base creates a sublime flavour without being too bloating – perfect for a pre-theatre meal.
The Stable is a genuine, authentic restaurant that provides fresh and delicious food and drink, it is definitely worth a visit this summer.
