On Wednesday I attended the Shrek The Musical press call at The Birmingham Hippodrome. I interviewed the principles of the show and went on a backstage tour witnessing the costumes, props, make up department and wig department. I found the backstage tour eye-opening as it really put into perspective the amount of time and money put into creating such a spectacular show. When watching musicals the process of creating the set and costumes never crossed my mind and now I realise how many people are involved in the creative process. The amount of money they spend on merely the make up and prosthetics is astounding, but it is all worth it because the show is truly magnificent.
